June 28, 2010: Supreme Court renderes a decision in  Bilski v. Kappos

The Supreme Court affirmed the decision of the CAFC, but rejected the "machine or transformation" test as a sole test of patentability based on an interpretation of the language of §101.  Essentially, this decision leaves the door open for business method and software patents.
